Good afternoon to everyone, except those who haven’t put their prices up!
Many teams are currently considering price rises, and on the one hand, there might be the price rises they’ve been ‘gifted’ from their suppliers, reducing profit. And on the other hand, they might be afraid. That is the fear of losing revenue if customers leave. Many teams might not actually know that increasing their price by 10% and losing 5% of their customers could significantly improve their profit! Here’s an interesting analysis of how much and how often Netflix increased their price in recent years.
One other way to improve your productivity and reduce wages cost is to automate mechanical tasks. This is more relevant for manufacturing and distribution type companies, but one of the main barriers is the price of robots for these companies. Robots require a significant investment of perhaps $100,000, whereas you can hire a worker for hundreds of dollars per week. Now you can lease robots to automate your production line for around $8 per hour, compared with a $15 per hour minimum wage from a company called Formic. How will you make your team a team?
This week I came across an interesting article about the way leaders think about a team. From the article, “Begin by considering this seemingly simple question: Does the group you have assembled view itself as a team? Often, executives “have recruited and promoted a number of executives, all with specific goals and objectives. Whether these individuals see themselves as a team is another thing. Perhaps they have non-complementary goals and are encouraged to compete with each other for resources and recognition. So a leader’s first step is often to declare that a team exists and to support that assertion with clarity as to how the participants are to interact and support each other.” Read the article here How will you make your team a team?
How to Age-Proof Your Brain. At 30, your mental muscles have likely already begun to weaken. In addition, the older and more set-in-your-ways you become, the more difficult it can be to break out of your habitual ruts.

The CEO Update is the missing piece in the meeting rhythm puzzle. It’s the ‘glue’ that aligns the entire business around the meeting rhythm of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual meetings. This is a weekly update from the leader that can be via email or video, and in this episode, we explain why it’s important, and provide a sample agenda, and some examples.
